What's therapy like, anyway?

Therapy is a personal process and one that needs honest and clear direction to allow for a safe exploration of what thoughts and feelings come up. We will be mindful by slowing down when necessary to create space for whatever needs to emerge. The body holds much information and can assist us in your journey of healing.

Therapy is about change and change takes work, much like going to the gym, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. You can’t reduce your distress, deal with life’s challenges, or make any changes in your life just by showing up and listening to me talk, though that’s a part of it. Sometimes we’ll have to take small steps and move mindfully forward and other times you have to take a risk and go for it. Your mileage will vary but with my support we can get you through this journey and develop the skills and summon the strength you already possess to live your most authentic life.

In the first session we will go over policies and procedures, your history and why you are seeking therapy, get to know each other and see if we’re can work together.

Sessions are 50 minutes weekly, but may require more frequent sessions in some instances. As you develop healthier coping skills and learn to deal with your distress, you can decide if you are in a better place and if you’d like to terminate services.

All sessions are currently being offered via HIPAA compliant online telehealth sessions only. In order to be appropriate for online therapy you must be in a private, confidential space without distractions or interruptions with adequate properly working technology.
